10 Models Who Successfully Transitioned Into Acting

The road to acting superstardom is paved with difficulty, and most aspiring actors make ends meet by doing an array of odd jobs. But if you happen to be ridiculously good-looking, it seems the world of modelling can be a good place to start.

With that in mind, and with their chiselled jawlines very much intact, we’ve profiled 10 Hollywood stars who started out as models and dispelled the age-old notion that models cannot act.

1. Channing Tatum

Under the name Chan Crawford, Channing was a crowd favourite in the local strip clubs before his looks won him a modelling contract. What followed were high-profile modelling gigs with the likes of Armani and Abercrombie, but one of Channing’s first modelling jobs came as a backup dancer for Ricky Martin in the music video “She Bangs.”

When asked about his modelling career in an old television interview, Channing expressed a desire to one day get into acting. “I don’t really see myself as a long-term model,” he admitted, “But I would love to get into acting.”
