10 Wild Celebrities Who Eventually Settled Down

As a content writer, I’m clearly not famous, and likely never will be, but I can imagine it’s a lot like being in a candy store full of capricious store clerks whispering in your ear that everything you ever dreamed of is there for the taking.

You can choose the best of the best, and if you have the added bonus of looking like a million dollars (which most do), then everyone will want a piece of you without you even having to try.

However, aside from the womaniser-extraordinaire that is Leonardo DiCaprio, who has clearly been unable to tame himself from the single life, many other stars of a similar calibre have. Here are 10 examples.

1. George Clooney

If words were to describe the beauty of this man, they would fill a whole dictionary; such is the attraction of this olive-skinned thespian. But without delving too much into Clooney’s clear-to-see handsomeness, let’s get back to the point: He was a commitment-phobe to the core.

While relationships weren’t uncommon (Lisa Snowdon, anyone?), he rarely stuck with them and was in many ways happy leading a bachelor life. But being a committed political activist as well as an artist, Clooney’s jaws dropped to the floor when he encountered human rights lawyer and humanitarian Amal Alamuddin near his home in Lake Como. Chasing her for months, he finally won her heart and proposed to her six months into the relationship, and the two are now happily married with twins. Oh to be a Clooney!

2. Russell Brand

A man who won the now-defunct Shagger of the Year award by Britain’s Sun newspaper, Brand is now a changed man, and for a good reason. Not only was Brand a heroin addict and alcoholic in his early 20s, but he also identified as a sex addict, and is thought to have slept with thousands of women in his time.

But perhaps his level of promiscuity hit its peak when he landed starring roles in the Hollywood films Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him To The Greek. He was the lothario every woman wanted to be with- even if it usually lasted only one night- and even a marriage with Katy Perry couldn’t change his ways, leading Brand to become more synonymous for his louche debauchery than his actual artistry.

In recent years, however, the eccentric actor and comedian got involved in politics and has been an outspoken critic of the celebrity-obsessed culture he was once part of.

The 42-year-old has also admitted that he regrets how he treated women in his earlier life and now appears happier than ever after tieing the knot with Laura Gallagher, who welcomed their first child earlier this year.
